“Beauty is a muse, she appears in untold ways. Sometimes her wings are visible, other times not. Nonetheless they are there, and serve as gentle reminders that we have all been given wings. Our journey is to uncover how to make them count. Really count. The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.” Shelley Anne Graham

Shelley Anne Graham is based in the beautiful coastal town of Nelson Mandela Bay, in South Africa. Profoundly affected by the tragic loss of her husband some years ago, Shelley Anne embarked on the journey of life, as a widow with her two sons. There is a tangible sense of a deep beauty that shows itself through the painful experience of life, which holds joys and sorrows in the palm of her hand. In “Murmurs of Wings”, a striking and beautiful painting in tonal blues, and silver greys, a young woman gazes ahead, embracing an unknown future, her expression is trusting and gentle, appearing vulnerable and delicate. Shelley Anne Graham says that “beauty appears in untold ways, sometimes her wings are visible, other times not”  Murmurs of wings explores the evidence of wings, exquisite birds painted by Shelley Anne`s master hand, nestle in the young woman’s hair, symbolizing the freedom to fly, despite circumstances.

You can purchase this beautiful painting, which is on exhibition at the gallery, now based in Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton. Owning an original work by Shelley Anne Graham is like holding beauty in your hands eternally.
