Solomon Omogboye

Biography

Solomon Omogboye was born in 1982 in Lagos. Early education was received in Lagos before proceeding to Lagos State Polytechnic with HND in ART AND INDUSTRIAL DESIGN (PAINTING) in 2007. He was awarded AADS best Artist of the year (2007).

Solomon was introduced to drawing as a child and encouraged by his mother, who was a teacher. He worked extensively as an art instructor in secondary schools in Lagos after his graduation and also practiced art from his home studio. His paintings are a reflection of his thoughts, inspiration, and ideas. He mainly uses charcoal, pastel, acrylic and oil on canvas to portray his ideas in visual form by creating beauty and thus making a personal statement.

In 2014 he relocated to Johannesburg, South Africa, where he lives and works as a full-time artist.  As a prolific painter, Solomon’s work has attracted much local and international attention over the years. He ranks among the leading young contemporary Nigerian artists.
