In “There is a shaking in society 6“, Ntshabele has empathetically captured the spirit of an inner-city man who seems to have succumbed to his circumstances. He walks slowly, one hand in his pocket, and in his other hand he holds a plastic shopping bag of food, which was scarce at the beginning of the pandemic. Newspaper headlines inform us of varying government responses to Covid 19 including strict codes of conduct involving quarantine and social distancing. These restrictions laid bare a difficult conundrum; there were those who could practice social distancing and self-quarantine if necessary, from the comfort of their suburban homes, and there were those cramped in inner city apartments and shanty towns that could not even afford their next meal without help from generous donors.
