“Mona Lisa with 3D glasses” explores identity, relationships and belonging on various levels because these, especially intimate relationships can shake the foundations of authentic identity. Femininity and what it traditionally and currently means to be a woman, mother, friend or lover is interrogated through the ancient tradition of stitching, sewing and thankless, repetitive tasks and daily journeys. Neither sewing nor embroidery is intended as perfect show pieces but are expressionistic mark makings. Bridal voile, wedding invitations, satin, ribbon, wool and various items of sentiment are used together with spray paint, bitumen, paint, pins and shellac.
