Nico Londos van Rensburg’s expressionistic paintings metaphorically portray our general human condition. Abstract mark-making creates contrasting warm and shady areas, conveying emotion by virtue of Nico’s personal style, drenched in paint and passion. Counterpointed blues, vermilions, greens and purples link loose brush strokes together in timeless, visual symphonies. In his diptych ‘Wisemen and Shepherds’ Nico praises the heroes of the current pandemic, the essential service workers, the health carers, the social workers, the police and military, the volunteers, the food and basic resources providers; wise shepherds tending the flock.
