With this small series, I’m playing with the idea by making new artworks based on artworks of a different form, currently in my studio. These works on canvas are a kind of ekphrastic description, all based on sculptural pieces I have recently made or pieces that are currently still in progress.
Where the 2D work on canvas and the 3D sculptural works meet, is in the sharing of the same basic medium. Both works on canvas and their sculptural subjects are made predominantly using paper, the process being as much the focus of the work, as the subject matter itself. The works, both on canvas and sculptural are themselves an ekphrastic description of interior world states such as hoping, sorrow, dreaming, imagining, waiting and longing.
