Jane Digby works with much energy and bravery. Her canvas is primed for the image by intuitive use of a variety of mark making tools and artist inks. A specific location and accompanying memory, jogged by her own photographic reference, is immortalised using large brushes, rollers and oil paints. Jane creates fast and furiously until she has no more to give.
“‘Golden Hour’ is inspired by Eastern Cape beaches at sunset (in particular Bushman’s beach looking towards Kwaai Hoek, South Africa). That beautiful time when life seems to pause momentarily while one absorbs the light and ponders over the day just past. The vertical lines symbolise a time frame, a pause, a time to take a deep breath and reflect.” Jane Digby
