This work is inspired by the life of Ezekiel Dlamini, a boxer from Natal who concurred the boxing ring, with zero loss, a true champ. His life inspired the first all-black cast theatre production, titled King Kong, where the late Baba Hugh Masekela and Mama Mariam Makeba were discovered and became world stars. As a Xhosa man boxing resonates with me, it’s our thing.
