The pyramidal forms that are housed like Matrushka dolls within each other are each painted in a different hue or colour from deep red at the heart to bright yellow on the outer layer. Beneath the work, an implied 2d shadow appears illusionistically in black expanded steel mesh. The overall effect is of a glowing or pulsing geometric image.
The series of triangular sculptures created from welded steel mesh into concentric pyramids that are each, in turn, welded inside each other according to size and colour. An illusionistic shadow falls across or below the forms. This work can be hung on the wall or can be presented on a flat base or plinth.
This steel mesh geometric series was originally made for a show at Creation Wines in the Hemel en Aarde valley near Hermanus in the Eastern Cape.
