Social Responsibility

The Artyli Africa Education Foundation

Every time you purchase a piece of art, you are donating 2% to the Artyli Africa Education Foundation ( A.A.E.F.).

What is the Artyli Africa Education Foundation?

The Artyli Africa Education Foundation has been founded by Karen and Richard Cullinan, and  is primarily an education fund for economically disadvantaged, yet gifted children and adults in South Africa who would not normally be able to fund their own tertiary studies in art. The main purpose of the association is to empower deserving artists with education so that they can make a career out of their art and make a success of their personal lives.

The association will include artists from Africa in the selection process for funding, however education itself will occur at selected South African institutions of learning. The association will provide university bursaries for tertiary studies in art and provide funding for students who do not qualify to attend university but do qualify for alternative learning and training at institutions approved by the association.

In addition to funding studies in art, the association will also provide funding, where possible, for student accommodation, books and art materials, data, food and transport money to ensure the student is afforded the best conditions possible to excel at his or her studies.

The Association commits to being inclusive and non-discriminatory, non-racial, non-sexist, non-ageist, and non-xenophobic in all its dealings.

The foundation is currently being set up.

Our Founder Says…

We are thrilled and excited about artyli.com, about the opportunity it releases for both artists and collectors. We are solving two problems in the market, the first problem is that artwork is often unaffordable, especially for younger collectors.

The second problem we aim to solve is for the artist. The life of an artist is like a landscape strewn with challenges and obstacles. Creating artwork, is about digging deep into yourself, to deliver thoughts and stories, in new and exciting ways, often not knowing if you’re going to sell your work or not. Every artist exhibiting here, and others that are coming on board, has had the courage to rise to this challenge. By creating a limited-edition print gallery, our artists can make passive income, so that they can keep creating beautiful pieces. Additionally, every time you buy a limited-edition print, you donate 2% toward the Artyli Africa Education Foundation, which supports artists whom have educational needs.

By having a gallery, in every Hi Hotel, which is a chain of Hotels developed by Tsogo Sun, we are also taking the gallery out of the traditional gallery space and placing it in a public space. This creates an opportunity for many more people to view and purchase art.
