Lynette van Tonder’s works are intended to provoke insight and thought into the time spent on earth - the trails blazed and the legacy that is left in our wake.

Lynette van Tonder was born in Pretoria but raised in Johannesburg where she works as a full time artist. After graduating Lynette launched her advertising career and worked as creative director in various agencies based in Johannesburg. Lynette managed her own advertising/design company for several years.

She made the shift to a career in visual art in 2012. Her passion for visual arts was fueled by her pursuit to produce art after hours and personal leadership training. Training that informs her career as a visual artist is a residency in stone lithography with Werner Otte at the Summer Academy of Art in Salzburg, Austria; etching at The Bill Ainslie Studio; a Marketing Management certificate from Damelin Business College, a salesmanship certificate (Dale Carnegie), drawing and painting with Thea Soggot, printmaking with Bevan de Wet at Sharon Sampson studios, and figure drawing with Carl Jeppe.
